Adoption

The Marion County Humane Society places hundreds of animals in new homes each year.  If you’re thinking of adding an animal to your household, please consider adopting from us.  All of our animals are well-deserving of a second chance within a loving home and a dedicated family to care for them.

Why you should adopt from us:

1) Animal health evaluation. Our animals receive a health checkup by our shelter staff and are brought up to date on all immunizations.

2) Socialization. On a daily basis, our animals are socialized with human contact and even other canine or other feline contact.  Our dogs have play time with other dogs.  Our cats can enjoy time in the community cat room.

3) Compassion. Some of the animals we help have survived trauma, abuse or neglect, and desperately need a home where they will be loved and appreciated.

4) Dedication. Our staff and volunteers are dedicated individuals who are available to assist you throughout the entire adoption process.  We will do our best to find the best fit for you and one of our special animals.  We encourage all of our clients to remain in touch with us after the adoption is final.

To adopt one of our shelter animals, an approved adoption application is required.  The adoption fees are:

  • Dogs and Pupies: $150
  • Cats and Kittens: $65
The fees include the following:
  • Spay or neuter
  • First distemper/parvo vaccination
  • Bordetella vaccination (kennel cough), for dogs only
  • Rabies vaccination, if over 4 months
  • Deworming
  • Micrchipping for dogs only
